China operates the world’s largest agricultural spray-drone fleet — over 300,000 units, more than 460 million mu treated annually per MARA’s January 2026 baseline. The technology’s unsolved problem, stated by the ministry’s own researchers, is where the chemical goes.

Meanwhile the party harmed by drift is typically neither the operator nor the client.
